It’s been awhile since I have posted some frugal tips. Since my life have been a bumpy ride because of my credit cards, here is another tip that I would assure you most people find it hard to do.

Tip # 3

Leave your credit card at home if you can’t control your spending habits. Bring it only when you feel like you really need it or you are not sure if your cash can cover the price of the needed item. Of course, needed items are classified as food for the family, gas for the car, etc… as long as it is essential for living. Not a fancy dinner or a new pair of shoes.

Many of us have credit cards and generally, most have not been so victorious in handling it (including me). It is always easy to swipe every time we see something nice but little do we realize that we have to pay for it on or before the cut-off date. The use of credit cards is just extending the time when to pay but not additional money to spend.

Since most of us have difficulties with credit cards, here is another tip that I am going to share with you. Unfortunately, I have learned handling credit cards the hard way.

Tip # 2

Every time your credit card’s due date comes, make sure that you pay the maximum amount you are capable of paying. Because when you pay the minimum amount needed that means you are only paying around 2% to 5% of your outstanding bill, which simply means it will take you around a year or more to settle your full account. Not to mention the additional expenses you charge when credit line is available.

Last July 2008, I have started giving out HOUSEHOLD TIPS that I have learned. Now, I have decided also to start another tip giving posts but this time it will be called FRUGAL TIPS. Of course it would focus more on the financial side of life.

I am not perfect when it comes to frugal living but I am on the process of learning and applying. The tips that I am going to share here are also from experience and other sources.

To start, here is our first tip…

Tip # 1

Stay home! If you don’t need to shop for anything or go to the grocery store, keep yourself away from the malls. Don’t go to the mall because you are bored and don’t use shopping as a form of recreation; doing this will cause you to spend for unplanned items. It will ruin your budget and eventually translate to debt.
