Theory on Acne Causes

I was reading an article about acne and I learned that there are no known reasons why they develop in humans. Science only has theories on acne. They say 80% of the people experience acne at some point in their lives.

Here are the several theories on acne that I have learned:

  • Acne starts between ages eleven and thirteen – I think this is related to changing hormones.
  • Pressure and rubbing from tight garments – I think wearing tight clothes irritates the skin thus causing acne.
  • Acne is sometimes genetically passed on – If you have a lineage of family members with acne, probably your children will do too.
  • Factors linked to women – Changing hormones in women can also cause acne.
  • Pregnancy and hormones – Changes in a woman’s body especially the increase of some hormones can cause acne.
  • Menopause and hormones
  • Stress – I think this is the number one cause for me. Whenever I am stressed, acne breaks out!
